Welcome to Home Page of the Carson
Valley Quilt Guild! We are 150+ quilters who live and quilt
in and around Nevada's Carson Valley, home to Minden,
Gardnerville and Genoa. We're located 10 miles south of
Carson City, our state's capital, and we're an hour south of Reno,
the largest city in Northern Nevada. We are located just over
the picturesque Sierra from beautiful Lake Tahoe,
surrounded by three mountain ranges ... the Carson Range of
the Sierra Nevada (see above photo), the Pine Nut Mountains and
the Sweetwaters. This "Moon over the Mountain" block is our
logo, each member making their own quilted nametag.
Our group first came together in 1986 as a handful of
quilting enthusiasts meeting in the back of a Gardnerville
fabric store. Now, more than 20 years later, we meet
monthly, have parties, quilt shows, guild challenges, classes,
workshops and a yearly retreat to Lake Tahoe.
We
have many mini-groups, formed for a variety of reasons
(neighborhood proximity, level of expertise, challenges,
camaraderie, etc.), and their names are the biggest kick ... Old
Broadcloths, Mitered Mamas, Rotary Renegades, Designing Divas,
Monday Hens, Tuesday Threaders, Friday Strippers, Lofty Quilters,
Ditch Stitchers, Silver Thimbles, Ladies of Material Pleasure,
Rippers & Strippers, Thimble Minded, Going to Pieces, Rethreads,
and Loose Threads of Lakeview.
We
are a non-profit organization and our charitable quilt donations
serve many in our growing communities.
Come
visit us sometime, or just enjoy our Web site and let us know what's
going on in your quilting neck of the world ... Happy Quilting,
all!
